In the Coming Month

December is going to be a big month for BRC.

We're dotting the "i"s and crossing the "t"s on our forthcoming LP Red Over Red.  The release date will be in the early new year... in the process of firming up details... more on that coming very soon!!

This coming Friday, Dec. 7th we'll be making our El 'N' Gee Club debut supporting our old friends Amido Black, who are doing a reunion show.  Also on the bill are Modern Primates and Sadplant.  It promises to be a night of drunken revelry that you won't see the likes of again soon. Facebook Event Page

On Wed, Dec. 19th we're heading to O'Brien's Pub in Allston, MA.  We'll be wrecking the place with the help from fellow Connecticut doom squad When the Deadbolt Breaks and Boston Psyche Rockers Aeolian Race.  We know it's in the middle of the week but come out and GET YOUR SLUDGE ON!!!

And for what will probably be our last show of the year (if not the last show in the world) we'll be in Northhampton, MA at The Elevens on Friday Dec. 21st.  This bill is stacked to the ceiling with DOOM.  Fellow CT Natives Sea of Bones and Warm are on the bill as well as our good friends Problem With Dragons and the mighty Black Pyramid.  This is a do not miss show. Facebook Event Page

Alongside all that music related stuff is Christmas, my 31st birthday and New Years Eve.  December is going to be busy but rest assured we'll be reminding you of all the goings on as they get closer.

Cheers.

Red Over Red update

So we've been getting a lot of questions from folks about what's happening with the new record, so here's the update!

We've been pretty busy... not much has slowed down for us since we returned from recording the album with Justin Pizzoferrato at Sonelab in Easthampton, MA last month.

The record is now in the process of being mastered by Carl Saff of Saff Mastering in Chicago. We've been listening to different passes over the last few weeks and we're nearly there! Yes, we are planning on pressing vinyl in addition to CD. Just a matter of working out details and finding the best pressing company to go with.

We've also been working hard on art, (which has been a bit tedious), but I think we've got the basic ideas down and we might even be close to finalizing the cover!

Then it's on to getting our ducks in a row with promotion and what have you so we can release this thing... and we can't WAIT for people to hear it! We're super anxious to release but we're also not trying to rush anything. So when everything's ready, we go from there. We would LOVE to see this thing unleashed in late January early February, but like I said - just have to see! We've also been discussing the possibility of putting together a small tour in spring?

We've also had a few shows here and there since recording. We played a last minute show at Javapalooza in Middletown, CT with our new friends the Lamb Bombs end of October... we just played here at home in New London last Monday Nov 5 at 33 Golden Street with some really awesome touring bands from the south, (Akris and Irata)... AND we're getting ready to play Elm Bar in New Haven next Thursday November 15, which is a Die Hipster Production. We've also got a few leads for a few shows in December, so stay tuned here to our website - we'll be posting more shows and updates soon!

Red Over Red is now recorded and mixed

Wow.  There is no other way to start this post.  Just Wow.  We just spent 6, 10 hour days recording and mixing our forthcoming LP Red Over Red at Sonelab with Justin Pizzoferrato and while we are incredibly excited about how it sounds we're really sad that the recording process is over.  Justin was so great to work with and he made us feel right at home.  If there is a more fun way to make a record I'd like to see it. We had a blast while working extremely hard.  We were able to sit back and enjoy the album in it's entirety last nite on the way back to New London and it was pretty surreal to think that we had just done this record.   It is crushingly heavy at times and others it's spacey and atmospheric.  It's such a great representation of who we are as a band right now and we're super proud.  We couldn't be happier with the results so far and we really have Justin and the Sonelab crew to thank.  So thank you.  You will be seeing us again.

Studio Day 5 & 6

Friday was our first full day mixing and everything is going according to plan and its sounding absolutely amazing!!! We're so pleased with the way this is coming together. We can't wait to unleash this record!!! We've got a few more songs to finish up mixing today (Sat) and hopefully we'll be leaving later tonight with a fairly complete mix of the record!! So exciting!

We've really become used to the schedule of getting up in the morning and heading straight to the studio so its definitely gonna be hard to go back to reality. Its seriously been such a blast up here this week. Justin, Sonelab and everyone we've met up here have just been absolutely amazing. Hotel was great and all the places we've eaten at, (Riff's Joint rocks!), have been awesome as well. We seriously don't want to leave!!! Hopefully it's not too long before we get to come up here again though. More later!

Studio Day 4

There is nothing like waking up in the morning, heading to the studio and screaming your face off.  I left the vocals that were going to be the most difficult on my throat for today but we powered through it and the results were awesome.  There are some really strong melodies and some blood curdling screams on this record and I think they will all come across equally powerful.  Vocals finished... Now on to mixing.  We have been flying through this record but never at the expense of being thorough and I am confident we are leaving no stone unturned.  Justin has been working his studio wizardry and we've been getting great results.  The heavy parts are even bigger and meaner when they're mixed and panned; the quiet parts are spacey and atmospheric.  Tomorrow will be our first full day of mixing and I'm sure it'll be just as productive as the rest of the week has been.  Stay tuned.

Studio Day 3

We started out day 3 finishing up bass overdubs. Nothing like a little distortion first thing in the morning! Rock!! We wrapped up bass tracks fairly early in the afternoon and started right in on noise parts and vocals. Feedback, aw yeah! Adam was super busy! We've got 3 more songs to finish vocals for and its on to mixing! At the end of the day our bff's The Suicide Dolls stopped in to visit and check out the studio! We were sooo happy to see them!!! It was just what we needed to get through the rest of our week!

Studio Day 2

Day 2 in Sonelab was even better than day 1.  Meghan completed all the drum tracks and they sound awesome.  She really unleashed the beast on these songs.  We moved on to the bass tracks and we cruised through about 3 quarters of the album.  Justin was a huge help getting the tones together and offering suggestions.  Him and Meg had to sit through many hours of my bass playing today so they deserve a trophy for that.  Having both their sets of ears keeping tabs on what I was doing made the recording so much easier.  It's amazing what 14 different pedals and 3 people can create.  Red Over Red  is turning out to be a stonier and heavier record than we could have imagined and we're really excited about it.  Stay tuned to find out what goes on tomorrow at Sonelab when BRC returns for more mayhem.

Studio Day 1

Day one of recording at Sonelab is complete and let me say that I couldn't be happier.  The facility is great and Justin made us feel right at home from the get go.  We burned through half of the drum tracks for the album and the tones we're getting are out of this world.  We've got 14 mics on the drums alone!!!  It sounds like thunder coming out of the drum room.  Even the "scratch" bass tracks we've recorded are just crushing.  Be prepared for a super heavy, super melodic, super dynamic record.  We've always been happy with the sound we've gotten with just the 2 of us but Justin is bringing us to a completely different level.  We couldn't be more stoked.  Stay tuned as things take more shape.  We'll fill you in on which songs are completed which bizarre pedals I'm using and how many times it takes me to scream my way through the album.

Settling in

Hello Easthampton, MA!  The drive up was quick and easy, but we hit a few good downpours. When we left New London it was sunny with no rain on the radar for our route, go figure. We were a bit worried about the luggage in the roof case getting wet... (yeah we forgot to put plastic bags around the luggage, whoops), but when we took the luggage out of the case everything was dry - we lucked out! We saw what seemed like a rainbow in every direction on the drive up - it was really something to see! We're taking it as sign of good things to come. :)

The hotel seems nice, pretty pleased with our room - it's comfortable and seems to have everything we need to get through the next week. Touched base with Justin and took a ride to find the studio so we know where to go tomorrow morning. Didn't have any problems - it's a pretty quick 10 minute drive down the road. We drove up to Northampton, (10 mins away as well), thinking we would eat dinner and grab a few pints at Northampton Brewery, which I had mapped out a few weeks ago. Apparently they were having a private party of some sort so we took a walk and ended up at Fitzwilly's a few blocks down the road. Pretty good eats - nice dinner.

Now we're back at the hotel relaxing and getting ready for our big "set up day" tomorrow. We'll most likely be blogging nights when we return from the studio and updating during the days on twitter (which also posts automatically to our Facebook). So yeah, you'll be hearing from us. We're excited.

Countdown has begun!

The last two rehearsals before we leave are tonight and tomorrow. We've been working really hard for months. I've been concentrating on tempos, starting with clicks etc and Adam has been busy working on sounds, tones etc. I think we're pretty much ready. As ready as we're gonna be!

We have yet to start packing, but hopefully tomorrow we'll get it all sorted out. Even though this is far from a vacation - it's a much needed break from our real day jobs and we are really looking forward to just being out of town for awhile. We've got some long days ahead of us, but we are so looking forward to this!

We'll be hitting the road Sunday afternoon, checking in to the hotel and getting acquainted with the area. Monday morning we'll head to the studio and start setting up.

We'll be blogging when we can, (at least once a day), right here on our website. So be sure to check back daily to see what we've been up to.

Also make sure to follow us on twitter (@bedrmrehabcorp). Our twitter feed is also on the right column of this page!

ALSO, there is a "follow by email" box on the right as well - submit your email to receive notification when we post an update on the site!

Recording

As most of you have probably noticed by our recent posts on our Facebook and Twitter... we have been recording. We locked ourselves in our home recording studio on August 25 & 26 and recorded 11 tracks ourselves. We've just about completed basic mixing and we are pleased with the results. However, these tracks will most likely never see the light of day... this recording session was done for practice purposes and will serve as a "road map" for actual studio time which we've booked the first week of October. Which brings us to the next part of this post...

We've booked 6 days, (October 1-6), recording time at Sonelab in Easthampton, MA with Justin Pizzoferrato. During that week we'll record those tracks again, and it will become our debut LP, Red Over Red. We cannot tell you how excited we are for this!

You may have heard of Justin by his work with New London's very own Suicide Dolls.  Justin recorded their album Prayers In Parking Lots  which was released earlier this year. Such an amazing record. If you haven't heard it yet, go to that link above and buy it, now!

Justin is also known for working with Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr. and Black Pyramid, (to name just a few), and in May, opened his own studio and rehearsal complex, (along with Mark Alan Miller), Sonelab, where he's more recently worked with Chelsea Light Moving (featuring Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth), Black Francis (of the Pixies), and a number of others.

We feel extremely lucky to be working with a producer/engineer of Justin's caliber. We're excited about this opportunity and will absolutely be making the most of it.

If all goes as planned, we are hoping for a late 2012 release, with a possible December/January release party. Please stay tuned!

In the meantime, come check out one of our next shows... we've got a few shows lined up this month before we hit the studio. Hamden, CT, Somerville, MA & Providence, RI - we'll see you soon! Check our "shows" tab for all the details.

Our show with Gone For Good @ Oasis!

What a show Friday at Oasis! It was a great crowd, and a great bill! We were so proud to share the stage with our practice space roomies Gone For Good, (it was their last show), and Recur Occurrence. We debuted a new song that will be on our upcoming debut record Red Over Red, (due out later this year), called "All Hands", and we received a huge response, so I guess it's a keeper!!! I think that just may have been one of our best shows to date! Thanks to everyone that came out!! Thanks to Corrine Jensen for the picture below!

In other news, we just confirmed a show for Friday July 20 in Meriden with our new friends Farewood who we met and played with at the Ideat Village Festival in New Haven last month! We're also working out details for a show coming up in August here in New London at 33 - stay tuned for more on that lineup. Keep it peeled to our "shows" tab for more info!

Show Review: BRC @ Geno's in Portland, Maine

Show Review by Christian Dyer

Since I can't remember the third word of their moniker, apparently, I really have to do a good job on this write-up about Meghan and Adam's act, "Bedroom Rehab Corporation". It doesn't matter if you even go as far as slipping and calling them "Master Bedroom" or whatever, as long as you don't compare them to the White Stripes for more than a passing acknowledgement of the constituent pieces of the band -- all of these happen, and happened as Seether fans drifted in from their show with brand new t-shirts into the more local, metal-ish venue.....

April "firsts"

Spring is quickly filling up for shows, and we couldn't be more excited! A lot of "firsts" happening this month! Check it:

We'll playing a  really rockin' show on Friday April 20 at Geno's Rock Club with our good friends from Portland, Armstrong and the almighty Pigboat! We go to Portland every year at least once to visit, but this will be our first time playing there! This will be one for the books folks. If you're in that area, definitely come hang out with us....

Demo!

So we recorded a little demo last night in our studio. Nothing fancy by any means. It's a very basic demo. Just wanted to have a few newer tracks to share with everyone that we've been playing in our live set. These 2 tunes will eventually be re-recorded for our album Red Over Red which will be released later this year. Enjoy!

Song Spinner!

S.S. Hangover (Sobering Sickness)

By: Peter Huoppi and Rick Koster
Publication: theday.com
Published March 9, 2012

Dark and heavy: words that could describe either the song 'S.S. Hangover,' or the beer that Adam Wujtewicz and Meghan Killimade suggest you drink while listening to the first song on Bedroom Rehab Corporation's upcoming concept album.

Press for Sunday's show!

The Pack A.D. and Bedroom Rehab Corporation are on the bill at Oasis

The two-person rock band construct, most associated with the White Stripes and the Black Keyes, actually has its roots in Simon & Garfunkel.

Hard to believe, but before they became known for their cooing folk harmonies as per "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme," S&G were much more abrasive and experimental. Art the Garf played baritone sax harmolodics, and Paul Simon shredded pre-Yngwie metal on a lute through a stack of Marshalls!

In that spirit of gloriously noisy garage anarchy, consider a fine show Sunday in New London's Oasis Pub. Headlining is Vancouver's the Pack A.D., on an international tour behind their latest Mint Records release, "Unpersons." Our own Bedroom Rehab Corporation, boasting Meghan Killimade's nuclear-fission drums and Adam Wujtewicz's molten-lava bass, are also slotted. Wisconsin's Black Cat opens.

This is a great way to NOT go gently into Sunday night.

- RICK KOSTER

The Pack A.D. and Bedroom Rehab Corporation, 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Oasis Pub, 16 Bank St., New London; $5; (860) 447-3929.
